Morning, Afternoon, and Evening Sickness

According to my What to Expect book, 75% of pregnant woman experience morning sickness. Since I am now almost 5 weeks pregnant and hadn't had any bouts of running to the bathroom (except to pee, which I have to do every 30 minutes), I thought I might luck out and be part of that 25% who don't experience it. NOPE!
This evening I walked into the kitchen to pop a bag of popcorn when I got a whiff of some stale bacon grease left over from cooking breakfast this morning. Wookie was not pleased and I went running. Thankfully, Phil immediately began washing out the offending pan and bagged up the garbage which had some remnants inside.
One incident in 5 weeks isn't too bad, so I am still considering myself lucky. The only other smell-aversions that I have had has been old garbage and sharpies. Yes, sharpies, one of my favorite writing tools at work. Thankfully, Phil is being really diligent about bagging up the garbage every day or so, and my work spouse, Kaitlin (My co-teacher), has graciously set aside the sharpies for the time being.

  1. Not sure if you remember me mentioning this in the past or not, but I didn't have "morning sickness" to speak of..... I had EVENING sickness. And my body seemed to want good solid PROTEINS when I felt sick, not carb's or sweets. Which is related to me even wanting Liver a couple times --not much, mind you, but just a few bites. Since I never served you liver growing up, I wonder if you even know what it tastes like. (??) So saltine crackers and ginger ale did me no good when queasy.
Wondering if that will be a maternal trait that will pass on to you, or if it was purely my own body's thing. Generally, they say to pay attention to your own mother's hormone patterns, as they increase your likeliness to experience the same. Not sure exactly WHAT falls into that category, though!
BEWARE !!! You may turn out like me!
